For New Years eve we counted down to 7pm with the kids before they went to bed.
I grabbed brown paper bags and labeled them with times at 15 minute intervals leading up to 7, inside was an activity or snack for that time.

Inside some bags were snacks, like juice boxes or pistachios:
In one we had pop-its, so we went out front and threw them around
Another bag had sparklers:
The last bag had hats and horns at such and we counted down with a video and then went to bed
Also in one of the bags we had sheets to ask the kids questions about them and about the year

After the kids were in bed Jason and I headed to some friends house and played games and had snacks!
