Biosphere

Last February we took a short trip down to Tucson for a few days.

On the first day we went to Biosphere 2.

In front of the biosphere

Terra wanted to carry my diaper bag. It's as big as her.

The kids loved this hands on activity about the water cycle while we waited for our tour:

They could pump balls up the tube on the left and they would fall own through the water cycle via the PVC pipe things on the wall.

Then the tour began

In the desert biome

In one of the "lungs" of the biosphere.
To deal with Air expanding and contracting as it cooled or heated they have these expanding rooms, where the ceiling is haning with weights so it will go up or down depending on the air pressure.
The ceiling dropped as we all went outside, and it was like walking through a storm to get out the door as the air was pushed out with us from the weight of the ceiling.

Our guide was a bit too talkative, so our tour took a  lot longer than they had said and the kids got bored in a few rooms, but it was still cool, we enjoyed it overall and we had fun and learned a lot.

Parker Lost a Tooth

Our first lost tooth!
It had been loose for quite awhile, but Parker isn't big on wiggling his teeth, so it came out slowly.
The next one came out just a couple weeks later.

Because a cute/crazy 17 month old deserves his own post

Cute smile

Can you see the imprint on his cheek from his nap?

Cute fluffy-butt playing the piano

Corin loved putting random toys in the stroller and pushing them around:

Homeschool stuff in February

We were using water colors for part of school one day and Corin helped out:

Parker was learning division with remainders, and anytime the remainder was 2, he couldn't help completing  the 'R2' with a 'D2' and a drawing of R2D2

Aria learned to write her name and would also draw these circle-y things everywhere saying she was writing stories:

Learning about blood:
Red blood cells and white blood cells (also plasma and platelets which are harder to see in there)

Bike Rider

Last February Aria learned to ride her bike without training wheels.
It was exciting and she was so proud of herself.
Hilariously enough, for the first couple weeks she could only turn left, she couldn't turn right.

January Pictures

Random pictures from January 2015

Corin and Daddy ready for church
We try to do "Daddy dates" and "mommy dates" each month. Terra chose to build a fort in our room and watch a movie on the portable DVD player for her date with daddy.

Face painting/body painting

Aria got a little carried away with the black face paint this time...

And Terra copied her:

Then the kids rinsed off in the bath and played with popsicle sticks, since they stick to the walls when wet

The girls were playing with dress-up and they came downstairs saying they were "two bells".
Haha... Tinkerbell and Belle from beauty and the beast

We went to the science center a few times. Once the girls brought our umbrellas and Aria used it during the "forces of nature" show where they have fake rain fall on the audience

Still at the science center...We went to a Sea Star Disection and we were the only ones there. So they got to get up close. So cool!

I don't know why i added this picture??? Parker learning to type for part of school

Aria and Corin
Parker is too smart for his own good with this little creative writing exercise:

And he also thought he was pretty clever for this one:
Using a straw to drink from his cup *while* it was filling up

New Years Eve

Our New Years Eve for 2014
We had activities and snckas and such sorted into these brown paper bags, each with a time written on them. (About 15 minute intervals) and when would open the next bag each time and do what was inside.
Snacks, sparklers, coloring, etc

December Picture Round up

Just some pictures from December...2014
yes, I am behind, but I'm working on it.

A water balloon bath

While I filled up lots of water balloons for the bath Terra filled some up like this:

And she "wrapped" it for a Christmas present
She became obsessed with these little balloons. Making them all the time, giving them as gifts and playing with them. She really thinks they are great
